The rainbow flags go up and the city explodes for a weekend of freedom of expression commonly referred to as the Gay high holidays. For the past 31 years, Long Beach has been hosting the annual Gay Pride Parade. On this sunny and hot Sunday morning Ocean Blvd was alive with a multitude of marching bands, church groups, politicians, cheerleaders, and the always entertaining - sisters of the perpetual indulgence. The three day pride festival has definitely evolved over the past 15 years – becoming less of a protest and more a celebration of music, love and the people who call this city home.
