USAF Thunderbirds. This alone drew thousands to Lancaster for the 2nd year of the Los Angeles County Air Show. I could watch jets all day long. Don't get me wrong, the warbirds demo was amazing, and there is something awe-inspiring about watching the Patriot Parachute Team jump from a vintage plane. And the acrobatics of Gene Soucy and Matt Younkin were definitely fan favorites.
But for me, seeing the U.S. Marine Corps AV 8B Harrier II do nearly impossible maneuvers, take-offs and landings that defy logic, while feeling the air move around us, or watching the sleek beauty and power of the U.S. Navy Super Hornet, as it pushes the boundaries of gravity and breaks the sound barrier, is the sole reason to drive two hours to the middle of nowhere and spend the day happily staring up into the sky.
